Everyone else sells you minutes.
A minute allowance sounds generous until you work out what it buys. A typical call runs about three minutes, so 150 minutes is fifty calls — and the fifty-first is charged at their overage rate, not yours.
| Option | Monthly | What that actually buys |
|---|---|---|
| Ansa | £69 + VAT | 500 calls, then 15p a call |
| Ringmere Starter | £49 | 150 minutes — about 50 calls, then 25p a minute |
| Ringmere Growth | £99 | 240 minutes — about 80 calls |
| Fasthosts AI Receptionist | £99 + VAT | General purpose, no booking depth for a trade |
| ARROW | £99 | Managed service |
| Human answering service | £50–£300+ | Charged per call, office hours only |
At three minutes a call, £69 here buys roughly 1,500 minutes. The nearest £49 plan buys 150. Going over costs you 15p a call; going over there costs 75p for the same three minutes.
The fair-use cap
Why 500 calls, and what happens if you pass it.
A busy salon or a sole trader typically takes somewhere near 150 calls a month. Five hundred is roughly three times that, so the cap exists for the exceptional month — a plumber in a cold snap — not for you.
Go past it and the extra calls are 15p each, shown in your dashboard as they happen. Nothing is cut off and no call is refused. If you are regularly over, we will move you to a larger plan rather than let the overage mount up.
